Outing Activity Notes
Seedlings Go Sunflower Picking! The sunflowers are almost in bloom at the Maryland Agricultural Resource Council! We will visit the sunflower field and will be able to pick our own at $1/stem. We can also visit the gardens, trails, and animals at the farm and find a shaded spot for a picnic! More info: http://marylandagriculture.org/pick-your-own/
Seedlings @ Miller Library Enchanted Garden - We will gather in the reading circle for a nature story and then explore the garden, checking on the sunflowers that CFIN planted earlier this year and searching for caterpillars and butterflies at the Monarch Waystation. Those wishing to make a day of it can stay for Farmer’s Market to check out their seasonal produce, flowers and other goodies. The Farmer’s Market is held on Wednesdays in the parking lot of the library from 2-6pm.
CLOSED: Seedlings @ the Bleak House Ruins - There is a really neat, almost hidden tot lot in the Wilde Lake area that is perfect to check out this time of year. The play structure was built on the ruins of a Civil War-era stone house. We will gather here to play, have snack on the blankets, and search for the fruit of the osage orange tree that are not edible but fun to bowl down the slide!
CLOSED: Seedlings @ Larriland Farm - Lets explore this beautiful western Howard County farm! We will start in the apple orchard to pick some apples, then visit the animals and maybe pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch! It might be fun to let the little ones wear their Halloween costumes and take pictures in the corn maze ($) and the seasonal cut-outs as well.
Seedlings @ Wilde Lake Park - Wilde Lake typically has beautiful foliage this time of year. We’ll gather near the tot lot to play and let little ones explore and then either stop at the creek or continue on to walk the 1.8 mile loop around the lake, admiring the changing colors.
|November 15||Woodstock||Seedlings @ the Howard County Conservancy - We will gather near the Conservancy’s natural play space and then take a walk to see the resident goats and chickens before heading to the indoor children’s area.|
Held every other Wednesday from 10-12 am.
